Target Now Says Data Breach Impacts 70M Customers

Law360, New York (January 10, 2014, 1:18 PM EST) -- Target Corp. said Friday it now believes hackers stole 70 million customers’ names, mailing addresses, phone numbers or email addresses during a three-week holiday season cyberattack, a drastic increase from the company’s previous estimate of 40 million affected consumers.

The company said that as part of its ongoing forensic investigation, it has determined the customer information — separate from payment card data that had already been disclosed — was taken during the data breach.
