Former HMA Exec Named in FCA Kickbacks Suit

Law360, New York (January 13, 2014, 3:33 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Justice has intervened in a False Claims Act suit targeting a former Health Management Associates Inc. CEO and alleging the Florida-based hospital chain paid kickbacks to physicians in exchange for referrals to its hospitals nationwide, according to a complaint unsealed recently in South Carolina federal court.
