House Bill Would Block Tax Changes For Political Groups

Law360, New York (January 15, 2014, 1:50 PM EST) -- House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp on Tuesday introduced a bill that would ban the Department of the Treasury and the IRS from implementing regulations that could threaten the tax-exempt status of 501(c)(4) organizations.

The Stop Targeting of Political Beliefs by the IRS Act of 2014, which would last for one year if passed, forbids regulators from issuing or finalizing proposed regulations under which political activity conducted on behalf of specific political candidates wouldn't count as a social welfare-related activity.
