ITC To Probe Chinese Electronic Surveillance Tag Imports

Law360, New York (January 15, 2014, 3:01 PM EST) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission announced on Wednesday that it has begun an investigation into allegations from Swiss security company Tyco Fire & Security GmbH that imports of electronic surveillance tags from China and used by retailers are unlawfully mimicking the technology covered by two of its patents.

The commission's vote to probe the imports came in response to a petition filed last month by Tyco, its U.S. business unit and Sensormatic Electronics LLC, which collectively operate an innovative acousto-magnetic electronic article surveillance system, or AM EAS system....
