ITC Judge Denies Samsung Bid To Nix Music-Sharing Patent

Law360, Los Angeles (January 15, 2014, 6:52 PM EST) -- A U.S. International Trade Commission judge on Tuesday refused Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.'s bid to toss media-sharing patent claims from a broader investigation into alleged patent infringement by Samsung and others, saying questions of fact still exist as to whether the claims are indefinite.

Administrative Law Judge David P. Shaw denied Samsung's motion for a summary determination that the asserted claims of Black Hills Media LLC's U.S. Patent Number 6,618,593 are invalid. Judge Shaw's ruling is subject to review by the full ITC.
