Ex-Va. Gov., Wife Indicted On Public Corruption Charges

Law360, San Francisco (January 21, 2014, 7:43 PM EST) -- Former Virginia Governor Robert McDonnell and his wife, Maureen, were indicted Tuesday for illegally accepting more than $135,000 in donations, luxury gifts and vacation getaways in exchange for touting a donor's tobacco-based health supplement. 

The indictment includes 14 counts of conspiracy, wire fraud, obtaining property under the color of official right, false statements and obstruction stemming from the couple's relationship with the former head of Star Scientific Inc., whom McDonnell identified in statements Tuesday as Jonnie Williams Sr., according to the Washington Post.
