$150M Suit Over Fire-Prone Dehumidifiers Stands

Law360, New York (January 22, 2014, 1:31 PM EST) -- A California federal judge on Tuesday mostly rejected Gree Electric Appliances Inc. of Zhuhai's bid to dodge home comfort product maker Soleus International Inc.'s $150 million suit accusing the Chinese appliance maker of selling fire-prone dehumidifiers through Soleus.

Gree, in a motion to dismiss, had sought to knock down four of Soleus' five claims, but U.S. District Judge S. James Otero granted the motion on only part of one claim. Soleus had asserted Gree violated California's Unfair Competition Law by running afoul of a federal law...
