SEC Bars Ex-Oppenheimer Manager Over PE Valuations

Law360, New York (January 22, 2014, 3:20 PM EST) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has barred a former Oppenheimer & Co. portfolio manager from the securities industry as part of a $100,000 settlement for allegedly inflating the valuation of an investment fund made up of other private equity funds, the agency said Wednesday.

The SEC issued an order detailing its settlement with Brian Williamson, who allegedly overstated the valuation of Oppenheimer Global Resource Private Equity Fund I LP, also called OGR. Oppenheimer reached a $2.8 million settlement in March 2013 over similar claims....
