Cargill Pays $2.2M To End Gender, Race Bias Claims

Law360, Los Angeles (January 22, 2014, 8:17 PM ET) -- A unit of Cargill Inc. has agreed to pay more than $2.2 million to settle the U.S. Department of Labor's allegations that it discriminated against job applicants on the basis of gender and race, the company said Wednesday.

Cargill has denied any wrongdoing, but it agreed to pay back wages and interest to nearly 3,000 job applicants who were rejected for production jobs in Springfield, Ark.; Fort Morgan, Colo.; and Beardstown, Ill. between 2005 and 2009, according to the agreement.
