Beijing Bans Construction Of Plants And Refineries

Law360, New York (January 23, 2014, 2:52 PM EST) -- Less than a month after the Chinese national government imposed an air pollution reduction target of 25 percent by 2017 for Beijing, the city greenlighted a ban on the construction or expansion of oil refineries, steel, cement and coal plants and other industrial facilities with high particulate emissions.

The ban, part of air pollution control regulations published Wednesday, will take effect in March, according to the city government. The regulations were approved last week.
