Mo. Lawmakers Push Sales Tax Hike To Fund Road Projects

Law360, New York (January 23, 2014, 4:44 PM EST) -- Missouri lawmakers on Wednesday took steps toward getting a proposal before voters that would increase sales taxes to fund state transportation projects, months after an identical measure was killed in the state Senate.

A bill introduced in the Missouri House by Republicans Dave Hinson and Dave Schatz would ask voters to consider a constitutional amendment that calls for a 1 percent increase on the state's sales and use taxes. The additional funding generated from the tax hike would be put toward funding Missouri's transportation system....
