Texas Rolls Out New Rules For ACA Insurance Navigators

Law360, Houston (January 24, 2014, 6:52 PM EST) -- Texas on Tuesday issued final rules aimed at regulating public-assistance navigators under the Affordable Care Act in the face of criticism by high-ranking state Democrats who say the measures are aimed at undermining the health care legislation.

Under the rules announced by the Texas Department of Insurance, navigators will have to register with the agency, submit to background checks, obtain professional liability insurance and complete several hours of educational courses, among other things.
