Sony Open Organizer Prevails On $50M Tennis Center Project

Law360, Miami (January 24, 2014, 7:16 PM EST) -- A Florida state court judge on Thursday granted summary judgment to Miami-Dade County and the organizer of the Sony Open tennis tournament, ending a legal challenge to a proposed $50 million expansion of the tennis facility on Key Biscayne.

Circuit Judge Marc Schumacher's final judgment also rejected a motion for summary judgment from plaintiff Bruce Matheson, whose suit sought to overturn a November 2012 county referendum in which 72 percent of voters approved the upgrades to the tennis center in Crandon Park, on land his family...
