Prominent Conservative Denies Campaign Finance Charges

Law360, New York (January 24, 2014, 6:37 PM EST) -- Conservative commentator Dinesh D'Souza pled not guilty in Manhattan federal court Friday to charges that he violated campaign finance laws by using straw donors to funnel contributions to Republican U.S. Senate candidate Wendy Long.

D'Souza's lawyer, Benjamin Brafman of Brafman & Associates PC, entered the plea on his behalf at an afternoon hearing before U.S. District Judge Richard Berman.

Prosecutors claim that the defendant, who created the documentary "2016: Obama's America" and has authored several conservative books, used straw donors to contribute $20,000 to the U.S....
