Freshfields Steers Liberty To Long-Awaited $13.7B Ziggo Deal

Law360, New York (January 27, 2014, 11:16 AM EST) -- Liberty Global Inc. tightened its grip on a fast-consolidating European telecom sector, saying Monday it would take full ownership of Dutch cable provider Ziggo in a deal that values the company around €10 billion ($13.7 billion) including debt.

The deal comes after months of negotiations between the companies, including a failed bid last fall. By combining Ziggo with its existing Dutch operations, Liberty will swell into a market powerhouse that reaches 90 percent of Dutch households, it said.
