Deals Rumor Mill: Liberty, Time Warner, Shell

By Karlee Weinmann (January 28, 2014, 4:12 PM EST) -- Liberty Global Inc. has its eye on Spain's Grupo Corporativo ONO SA, a company that would help it continue its high-profile push to Europe's fast-consolidating telecom sector, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday. If it pursues an $11.6 billion bid for the company, it would likely square off against British mobile giant Vodafone Group PLC, which is also in the running for Ono. Both wannabe buyers have met with the target's private equity owners, including Providence Equity Partners LLC, Thomas H. Lee Partners LP and CCMP, which have been contemplating a public listing for their company. The speculation comes a day after Liberty said it would drop $13.7 billion on Dutch cable provider Ziggo....
