Samsung 'SmartPause' Feature Infringes Patent, Suit Says

Law360, Los Angeles (January 31, 2014, 4:56 PM EST) -- A Canadian research university claims Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.'s Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 smartphones are infringing its patent for technology that allows humans to communicate with computers with their eyes, according to a suit filed Friday in Texas federal court.

Queen's University at Kingston filed suit against Samsung Telecommunications America LLC, alleging the company is infringing university-developed technology with its SmartPause feature, which enables users to pause videos on their phones by simply looking away.
