ITC Probes Sony In LED Patent Case

Law360, New York (March 20, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission has opened an investigation into whether more than 30 major electronics companies, including Sony Corp., infringed a Columbia University professor’s technology covering short-wavelength light-emitting diodes and laser diodes.

The ITC said Thursday it will look into a wide range of products, such as hand-held mobile devices, DVD players and traffic lights, to determine whether any of the companies infringed a patent owned by Gertrude Neumark Rothschild.
