Dynamic Air Ducks Patent Suit Over Drilling Waste System

Law360, Los Angeles (February 6, 2014, 6:24 PM EST) -- A Minnesota federal judge on Thursday tossed a drilling equipment company’s patent infringement suit against Dynamic Air Inc. over a system to transport drilling waste installed in Brazilian ships, ruling that the court had no jurisdiction over Dynamic’s Brazilian subsidiary, which installed the machinery.

U.S. District Judge Ann D. Montgomery dismissed without prejudice M-I Drilling Fluids UK Ltd.’s suit, which alleged Dynamic Air’s subsidiary poached M-I employees and used their knowledge of M-I’s patents to win a bid for transporting drilling waste.
