Senate Approves Baucus As Next China Ambassador

Law360, Los Angeles (February 6, 2014, 6:38 PM EST) -- The U.S. Senate on Thursday confirmed Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., as the nation’s next ambassador to China, leaving several of his sweeping tax proposals on the table.

In a 96-0 vote, the senators ushered Baucus into the role from his previous position as the chair of the Senate Finance Committee. He will replace Gary Locke, who is stepping down after three years in the role to rejoin his family in Seattle.
