Chinese Officials Vow to Solve Disputes Over Auto Piracy

Law360, New York (December 3, 2003, 12:00 AM EST) -- Senior Chinese officials met recently to discuss a solution to intellectual property rights disputes between General Motors and Chinese automaker SAIC Chery, state news agency Xinhua reported Wednesday.

Zhou Wenzhong, China's vice foreign minister, told reporters that heads of China's ministry of commerce and other concerned departments, had met to discuss the dispute.

He said China made an explicit commitment to protect intellectual property rights when it entered the World Trade Organization in 2001, and that the country would “spare no efforts to fulfill it,” according...
