Fla. Loses Bid To Seize Property Tied To Illegal Gambling

Law360, New York (February 10, 2014, 2:11 PM EST) -- A Florida appeals court on Friday rejected the state's attempt to seize four properties that were allegedly purchased with money from illegal Internet cafe gambling operations, saying gambling was not a violation of the state’s contraband forfeiture law.

Florida argued that the the four properties were subject to forfeiture under the Florida Contraband Forfeiture Act because they were bought with proceeds from an illegal gambling operation.
