By Karlee Weinmann (February 10, 2014, 1:58 PM EST) -- U.S. wireless provider Sprint Corp. is rethinking its expected acquisition play for rival T-Mobile US Inc. in light of increased skepticism from antitrust regulators that a deal could pass muster, sources told the Wall Street Journal on Monday. Sprint's chairman and CEO have spent recent weeks meeting with officials at the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Communications Commission to gauge whether to proceed with the multibillion-dollar offer. SoftBank has a controlling stake in Sprint and is trying to win over U.S. regulators, arguing that combining the third- and fourth-biggest mobile servicers in the U.S. will maximize competition by allowing them to better compete with the No. 1 and No. 2 carriers, Verizon Wireless and AT&T Inc....
