US Files Another WTO Challenge To India's Solar Program

Law360, New York (February 10, 2014, 5:39 PM EST) -- The U.S. has filed another complaint with the World Trade Organization over India's solar power incentive program, alleging the country’s National Solar Mission provided financial inducements to Indian power companies to use domestic solar equipment, raising an unfair trade barrier to American products, U.S. officials said Monday.

Washington’s latest WTO request for dispute-settlement consultations with India over its NSM was submitted after the program’s domestic-content requirements were expanded to apply to more products than just solar cells and modules, according to U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman....
