Former Bechtel Exec Charged In Alleged Kickback Scheme

Law360, Los Angeles (February 10, 2014, 8:14 PM ET) -- A former Bechtel Corp. executive was charged Monday with accepting kickbacks from power companies in return for securing more than $2 billion in contracts, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

In an eight-count indictment, a Maryland federal grand jury charged former Bechtel Principal Vice President Asem Elgawhary, 72, with money laundering, fraud and violating federal tax law, the DOJ said.
