Toyota Recalls 1.9M Prius Vehicles Over Software Glitch

Law360, New York (February 12, 2014, 12:53 PM EST) -- Toyota Motor Corp. said Wednesday it is recalling about 1.9 million Prius vehicles around the world after the company discovered a glitch in the car's hybrid control system that could cause the vehicles to shut down while being driven.

The company said the affected vehicles were manufactured between March 2009 and February 2014. About 700,000 are being recalled in North America, the rest from Europe and Japan. Toyota said it will update the motor and generator control engine control unit, or ECU, and hybrid control ECU...
