DC In Need Of Changes To Local Tax Scheme, Commish Says

Law360, New York (February 12, 2014, 6:26 PM EST) -- Local taxes in the nation’s capital should better conform with the national tax scheme, a commission recommended to city lawmakers on Wednesday.

The D.C. Tax Revision Commission recommended that the city create a new tax bracket to give middle-class workers a 2 percent tax break, along with proposing rules to match the city’s scheme with that of the federal government, including the types of filing statuses and the standard deduction taxpayers may claim.
