Rockefeller, Markey Introduce Bill Targeting Data Brokers

Jay Rockefeller, D.-W.Va., and Ed Markey, D.-Mass, on Wednesday introduced a bill aimed at reining in data brokers' collection of consumers' personal information for marketing purposes, as lawmakers continue to investigate the industry's controversial practices.

The bill, called the Data Broker Accountability and Transparency Act, would prohibit data brokers from collecting or soliciting consumer information using deceptive means.
