Comcast Puts Up $45.2B In Surprise Time Warner Takeover Bid

Law360, New York (February 13, 2014, 7:55 AM EST) -- Comcast Corp. said Thursday it would swallow rival Time Warner Cable Inc. in a blockbuster merger worth $45.2 billion that stands to reshape a U.S. cable industry, fanning competition concerns that have smoldered since Time Warner emerged as a target last year.

Attorneys have previously questioned whether such tie-up could pass regulatory muster, difficulties the companies did not directly address in their deal announcement except to say they would divest 3 million subscribers to calm antitrust worries.
