NJ Town Sued Over Lack Of Affordable Housing

Law360, New York (February 14, 2014, 6:31 PM EST) -- Property developer Landmark Dumont LLC recently filed a builder’s remedy lawsuit against Dumont, N.J., in New Jersey state court, contending the borough has fallen short on its affordable housing obligations and should rezone or take other steps to correct the violation of the state’s Mount Laurel doctrine.

The suit, filed Feb. 4 in Bergen County Superior Court, argues that the borough — which is located in North Jersey just outside of Alpine, an area Forbes named as the U.S.’s most expensive zip code — created zoning ordinances...
