House Bill Targets Taxation Of Telecommuters

Law360, New York (February 14, 2014, 5:43 PM EST) -- A bill introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday would make it illegal for states to impose income tax on employees who work remotely for an out-of-state employer.

The Multistate Worker Tax Fairness Act would ensure that people with out-of-state employers who telework or whose job requires them to occasionally work in another state do not have to pay more than their fair share of state income taxes, Rep. Jim Himes, D-Conn., said in a statement.
