Clayton Dubilier Picks Up Ashland Unit In $1.8B Deal

Law360, New York (February 18, 2014, 2:26 PM EST) -- Private equity firm Clayton Dubilier & Rice LLC will acquire specialty chemical supplier Ashland Water Technologies from parent company Ashland Inc. for $1.8 billion, the companies said Tuesday.

Ashland Water Technologies, which produces chemicals for papermaking and industrial water treatment, has recently simplified its organization and increased profitability, the company said. Ashland Inc. posted a fiscal fourth-quarter EBITDA that declined 8 percent from last year amid flat sales, and said it would restructure by focusing on its core specialty chemicals business.
