Pa. DEP Chief Says Fracking Fees Enough, Others May Rise

Law360, Philadelphia (February 18, 2014, 6:13 PM EST) -- The secretary of Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection told legislators on Tuesday that the agency was drawing sufficient funds from both natural gas permitting fees and impact fees to oversee the drilling boom in the state, but added that some fees for a number of DEP services could rise.

Testifying before the Senate Appropriations Committee in the annual round of budget hearings, DEP Secretary Chris Abruzzo said that the DEP would potentially be moving to a “pay-as-you-go” approach, in which industry players pay directly for services....
