Samsung Sues Dyson For Defamation Over Patent Suit

Law360, New York (February 18, 2014, 2:48 PM EST) -- Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. reportedly sued appliance maker Dyson Ltd. for defamation in South Korea last week, calling Dyson a "patent troll" and claiming that Dyson's now-withdrawn suit against Samsung over vacuum cleaner patents defamed Samsung as a copycat.

The defamation suit, in which Samsung is seeking 10 billion won ($9.4 million), claims that Dyson made public comments when the infringement suit was filed in the U.K. last year that hurt Samsung's corporate image, an anonymous Samsung spokesman told The Korea Times.
