Texas Group Launches Denton Fracking Ban Campaign

Law360, New York (February 18, 2014, 7:04 PM EST) -- A citizens group launched a signature campaign Tuesday for a ballot initiative to ban new hydraulic fracturing projects in the city of Denton, Texas, which already has more than 270 active gas wells within city limits.

The Denton Drilling Awareness Group has 180 days to collect only 571 signatures in order to allow city residents to vote on the measure this November. If the anti-fracking campaign is successful, Denton would become the first U.S. city to ban fracking after permits had been granted, the group said....
