Fla. Senate Panel OKs Bill Streamlining Big Development

Law360, Miami (February 19, 2014, 9:23 PM EST) -- A measure aimed at streamlining major development projects by reducing thresholds that trigger intensive regional impact reviews advanced in the Florida Senate on Wednesday despite objections from several environmental groups.

S.B. 372, sponsored by state Sen. Bill Galvano, R-Bradenton, would add seven counties and 20 municipalities to Florida's list of “dense urban land areas,” making them exempt from putting large development projects through the intensive “development of regional impact” review process.
