Ex-News Corp. Editor Beats Bribery Charge In Hacking Case

Law360, New York (February 20, 2014, 1:51 PM EST) -- A U.K. judge ordered a jury Thursday to toss one of the five pending charges against former News of the World editor Rebekah Brooks in her phone-hacking trial, saying there wasn't enough evidence to back it up.

Brooks, who rose to head Rupert Murdoch's U.K. media branch News International Group Ltd., was indicted in July 2012 for allegedly hacking story subjects' voice mails.
