FDA Chief Predicts Long Road For India Quality Reforms

Law360, New York (February 21, 2014, 6:41 PM EST) -- U.S. Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Margaret Hamburg on Friday acknowledged a challenging road ahead in winning greater cooperation from regulatory counterparts in India, suggesting that while inspections are increasing, it could be years before the two countries get on the same page.

Hamburg, fresh off a weeklong trip to India, during a media briefing downplayed expectations surrounding a “statement of intent” that she and her counterpart at India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare signed on Feb. 10.
