FDA Issues 1st Ban Under Tobacco Control Act

Law360, New York (February 21, 2014, 4:28 PM EST) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Friday issued its first ban under the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act to stop the sale of four tobacco products by a manufacturer that the agency said failed to comply with the law’s requirements.

The FDA ordered retailers to stop selling four tobacco products known as bidis, manufactured by Jash International Inc., including Sutra Bidis Red, Sutra Bidis Menthol, Sutra Bidis Red Cone and Sutra Bidis Menthol Cone, according to a statement by the agency.
