Broadband Co. Dodges FCA Suit Over $45M Grant

Law360, New York (February 21, 2014, 6:47 PM EST) -- A Missouri federal judge on Friday granted summary judgment to Bluebird Network LLC in a False Claims Act whistleblower suit in which a former employee alleged the company falsely obtained a $45 million grant for providing broadband to underserved areas.

Judge Nanette K. Laughrey of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri sided against relator Martin Schell in his retaliation suit, finding that he “cannot establish that he was terminated for engaging in protected activity.”
