Reducing And Managing Patent Litigation Costs

Law360, New York (March 26, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Patent litigation costs are substantial, growing and are a cause for consternation for many companies.

The American Intellectual Property Law Association’s economic survey indicates that the median cost of patent litigation in which between $1 and $25 million in damages is at stake has increased from $1.5 million in 2001 to $2.5 million in 2007.

Patent cases above $25 million have seen similar cost escalation, from $3-5 million over the same period.
