EU Says Ahlstrom, Munksjo Offered Dubious Data On Merger

Law360, New York (February 25, 2014, 12:21 PM EST) -- The European Union's antitrust watchdog on Tuesday accused Finnish paper maker Ahlstrom Corp. and Sweden's Munksjo AB of giving misleading information to regulators to win approval for their merger, raising the possibility that the combined company, Munksjo Oyj, could be slapped with a hefty fine.

Ahlstrom and Munksjo, which merged in two phases in 2013, face a penalty of up to 1 percent of their aggregate net sales should the European Commission conclude they gave false information on the abrasive paper backings market to antitrust officials...
