ARPA Energy Inventions Gain $625M In Private Investment

Law360, New York (February 25, 2014, 7:17 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Energy's funding program for uncommon technological innovations has been able to launch 22 projects that acquired a combined $625 million in private-sector funding, it announced Tuesday. 

The Advanced Research Projects Agency - Energy had invested $95 million in the projects, which include concepts like the Massachusetts' Institute of Technology's high-amperage storage device and OPX Biotechnologies' bacteria that make biofuel when stimulated with electricity.

This is good news for ARPA-E, which is under pressure to pick projects that produce results from untested methods....
