Judge OKs $7M Award To Maker Of Pet ID Chips

Law360, New York (March 27, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge has finalized a $6.8 million award of damages, interest and costs to Avid Identification Systems in a false advertising and patent infringement case over the technology used to identify pets and livestock.

Judge T. John Ward of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas handed down the orders Tuesday for Avid against European-based Datamars SA; Datamars' wholly owned U.S. subsidiary, Crystal Import Corp.; Philips Semiconductors Inc.; and Philips Semiconductors Manufacturing Inc.
