Boeing Wins $2.4B Navy Contract For Poseidon Spy Planes

Law360, Washington (February 26, 2014, 2:00 PM EST) -- The Boeing Co. has been awarded a $2.4 billion contract to supply the U.S. Navy with an additional 16 P-8A Poseidon maritime spy planes, bolstering the Navy’s patrol capabilities and allowing Boeing to enter full production for the airplane, it announced Wednesday.

The contract, which will take the Navy’s total fleet of P-8As to 53, marks a transition from preliminary low-rate production to full production for the Poseidon, which is used for anti-submarine, anti-surface warfare, and surveillance, intelligence and reconnaissance activities, Boeing says. The deal is expected...
