Duane Reade Pays $22M To Settle Litigation Over Truck Injury

Law360, New York (February 28, 2014, 1:25 PM EST) -- Duane Reade Inc. has agreed to pay a veterinarian who was gravely wounded by one of its trucks $22 million in a settlement that came toward the close of a second jury trial in an ugly case that began back in 2009, the plaintiffs' lawyer told Law360 on Friday.

The Brooklyn trial court deal will be funded by ACE America Insurance Co. and the Hartford, two insurers for Duane Reade. The drugstore chain was purchased for more than $1 billion in 2010 by Walgreen Co....
