FilmOn Can't Join Aereo Case, Supreme Court Says

Law360, New York (March 3, 2014, 12:12 PM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court said Monday that online streaming service FilmOn X LLC couldn't intervene in the pending high court battle between rival service Aereo Inc. and big broadcasters, rejecting the argument that it deserved to have a say in the case.

The justices denied FilmOn's bid to join the case against Aereo, which, like FilmOn, uses tiny banks of antennas to rebroadcast over-the-air television content on the internet without paying royalties. As is customary, the court didn't explain its rationale.
