CFTC Can't Do Its Job Under New Obama Budget, Chilton Says

Law360, Washington (March 4, 2014, 3:36 PM EST) -- The White House proposed increases to the budgets of both the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission on Tuesday but still sparked backlash from one CFTC commissioner who said the proposal was insufficient for his underfunded agency.

The Obama administration’s fiscal year 2015 budget requested that Congress allot $1.7 billion for the SEC and $280 million for the CFTC, appropriations which are 30 percent and 26 percent over levels actually granted by Congress last year, the White House said.
