Recalls Of Tainted Cantaloupe Continue To Rise

Law360, New York (March 31, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Chiquita Brands International Inc. and Dole Fresh Fruit Co. have become the latest produce sellers to recall salmonella-tainted cantaloupes imported from Honduras, a week after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reported almost 60 illnesses related to the melons.

The announcements by Chiquita and the Dole Food Co. Inc. subsidiary on Thursday and Friday came just a few days after the FDA reported a salmonella outbreak that had spread across 16 states and Canada.
