FCC To Push For Limits On Local Station Deals

Law360, New York (March 6, 2014, 3:29 PM EST) -- Federal Communications Commission Chairman Tom Wheeler said Thursday he would propose new rules targeting agreements between local broadcasters that he believes skirt media ownership rules and drive up cable bills.

Wheeler's proposed rules, which will be considered at a March 31 meeting of the FCC's commissioners, would rein in so-called joint sales agreements — arrangements where one station, usually a larger one, takes over advertisement sales for a smaller station.
